Her exceptional subject-wise scores include 99 in Chemistry, 98 in Mathematics, 97 in Physics, and 66 in English.

Dr. Umeofia expressed that he was deeply moved by Umeh’s interview, which was featured in Saturday PUNCH on July 1, 2023. The student’s remarkable achievements and dedication clearly left a lasting impression on him.

In addition to the cash reward for Umeh, the philanthropic businessman extended his generosity by announcing various cash prizes for the school administrator, the four subject teachers, and two other top-performing students from the same school. This demonstrates Dr. Umeofia’s commitment to recognizing and appreciating the collective effort of the educational institution in fostering academic excellence.

Such acts of recognition and support not only motivate the students and educators involved but also serve as an inspiration for others to strive for academic success. Dr. Umeofia’s commendable gesture highlights the importance of acknowledging and nurturing talent in the pursuit of education and the overall development of individuals and communities.

In a display of recognition and encouragement, the school administrator, Pastor Eze Emmanuel, has been granted a sum of N200,000, while the dedicated teachers responsible for imparting knowledge in the subjects of Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and English at the school will each receive a commendable amount of N100,000. Furthermore, Andrew Imoukhuede, another outstanding student who achieved an impressive score of 355, will be rewarded with a substantial sum of N100,000. As for the student who secured the third position within the school, a commendable prize of N50,000 will be bestowed upon them. These acts of appreciation and reward aim to serve as a catalyst for inspiring other students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, fostering a culture of diligence and success within the educational institution.

In a heartfelt statement, Umeofia expressed his motivation for his philanthropic actions, stating that he believes in the power of giving as a key to longevity and happiness, a value instilled in him by his father. He emphasized the significance of the young girl’s achievement, highlighting the need for other young ladies to follow suit and contribute to alleviating the country’s challenges. Umeofia firmly believes that the youth hold the potential to bring about positive change in Nigeria.

Expressing his joy at the girl’s remarkable success among the 1.6 million students who sat the examination, Umeofia took pride in the fact that she hails from Amish town, located in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State. He emphasized the town’s history as a symbol of peace, as it was where the civil war ended and the surrender of Biafra was accepted by former president Olusegun Obasanjo. Umeofia sees the achievements of both himself and the young girl as shining examples that bring honor to their village. Having personally experienced the sacrifices made to provide education for their children, Umeofia believes it is now the responsibility of the younger generation to make their parents proud.

As a philanthropist running a foundation that supports over 100 students through scholarships, Umeofia revealed that he has invested more than N500 million in grants to individuals with innovative business ideas. He sees this action as a means of contributing to the economy and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs.

Expressing his delight that Umeh plans to pursue a degree in chemical engineering, Umeofia assured her of his continued support as long as she maintains her outstanding academic performance.

Umeofia extended a call to other philanthropists, urging them to emulate his actions and create opportunities for individuals like Umeh in various fields. He highlighted the challenges faced by some students due to lack of resources, support, and even basic necessities like food. By encouraging and supporting these students in their educational pursuits, Umeofia believes that they can excel and make significant contributions to society.

Furthermore, Umeofia appealed to the Federal Government to implement favorable policies that would incentivize brilliant students like Umeh to remain in the country after completing their education, enabling them to contribute to the nation’s economy and development.
